Home,
but wild.

Amid the city. A little wild.

I’m Mau. This is my little piece of nature at home — and the things I use to bring it to life.

01 — A LITTLE ECOSYSTEM

Fish below.
Above the water, a garden.

No soil, no added fertiliser in my setup. The roots draw nutrients from the aquarium water. After trying different plants, these are the ones that have thrived for me.

How do I mount the plants? Mau Nguyen
YOU ASKED, HERE’S MY SETUP

How I mount plants
above my aquarium

One round wooden dowel and a few plastic cable ties — that’s how I support the plants above my aquarium.

Three steps: rest one wooden bar across the tank rims, secure the plants with plastic cable ties, and keep the roots just below the water. Close-ups show the mounting and water level.Open the full-size guide

  2. 02

Secure the plants with cable ties

Use plastic cable ties to secure the plants to the bar, leaving the roots hanging freely.

  3. 03

    Keep the roots just submerged

Adjust each plant so its roots are just submerged, with stems and leaves above the water.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME
“I love an aquarium that makes me forget to check the time.”

Wood reaches above the water, leaves spill over the rim, and fish find their own paths. Here I share what I’ve used and tried in this little corner of home.
